During Operation Barbarossa in 1941, German units were confronted for the first time with the T-34 and KV-1 tanks, which posed significant problems for German tanks and anti-tank guns. Entering service in 1943 and intended to counter the Soviet T34, the Panther is considered one of the best tanks of World War II for its excellent combination of firepower and high mobility.
